Alexander Taylor is an artist and art educator currently living in Louisville, Kentucky. He is from San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, where he grew up in a family of artists and designers. Alex studied art and music at the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes and eventually graduated from Arizona State University with a BFA. Returning to Mexico after graduation he moved to Mexico City and joined a small design team at DRAFFT. He then attended the Yale Summer program in Graphic Design, in Brissago, Switzerland in 1986, and in 1989 graduated from Yale University with a MFA degree.
Alex Taylor’s experience as an educator includes teaching at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Parsons the New School for Design in New York City. In 2015 and 2016 he was invited to conduct, with professor Tom Ruggio, a one-week drawing and plein air landscape painting workshop in Tuscany, Italy. Alex Taylor has also taught Spanish and Art at St Francis in Goshen, KY since 2005.
