Fun with LVA’s Summer Art Camps

Register for LVA Summer Camps Now!
Summer is in full swing, but it’s not too late to join in on the vacation-time fun with LVA’s Summer Art Camps!

Camp season began in June and runs through early August. Detailed descriptions and online registration are available here.

Featured Camp  COMIC BOOK ART (in-person)
August 3 – 7, Ages 7 – 10

  • Become a creative super hero in Comic Book Art Camp! Students will learn the basics of comic book structure to create spine-tingling page turners that will have their readers flying through stories. Campers will leave the class having developed original characters and worlds of their own while acquiring a keen knowledge of visual storytelling. “Excelsior!”
Other upcoming summer camp themes include painting, creature feature, stop-motion animation, and cardboard laboratory.

There are still a few spots left in Cardboard Camp (July 6 – 10) and Creature Feature (July 27 – 31).

July & August LVA Summer Camps are still happening in-person unless we hear otherwise from authorities. We have taken steps to protect your children and our teachers during this time period, including restricted access to the building (drop off and pick up would only be at the Payne St. parking lot door – only campers, teachers and volunteers entering the building), temperature checks each day before entering the building, PPE for campers and teachers, and the class size is now limited to 10 campers to give us ample room for social distancing and creating art projects. Personal cleanliness and art room cleanliness guidelines will be strictly adhered to.

Louisville Visual Art’s main concern is keeping everyone safe, healthy and creating. We realize our July LVA Summer Camp schedule may change and we are prepared for that with LVA Online Summer Camps for July and August.

LVA will be sure to keep you informed of this situation. We hope you are all safe and well! Please email Summer Camp inquiries to Annette Cable:

If you’re unable to join our Summer Camps, or if you’re waiting for one to begin, we encourage everyone to try our FREE LVA Art Starts Video Lessons!

If you’ve made artwork inspired by Art Starts Videos, tag #ArtStartsAtLVA on social media, or email

If you’ve enjoyed an Art Starts Video, or just want to make sure others can, we’ve set up a mini fundraiser with a goal of $2,500 to produce 10 video lessons, each of which employs an LVA-Affiliated Artist during this uncertain time. Follow the link above to the Art Starts web page – the DONATE button is at the top. Thanks to all who have already given to support this project. Every dollar helps!
