KMAC Couture: Star Stuff is now streaming

October 14, 2020
LOUISVILLE, KY – KMAC Museum is pleased to announce that KMAC Couture: Star Stuff is now available for public streaming. Produced by KMAC Museum and Audi Louisville in conjunction with Uproar films, the film celebrates unique couture works of wearable art and high-concept fashion and the artists who create them. The film opened to the public on Sunday, October 11 and will remain available for pay-per-view streaming through the end of 2020.

KMAC Couture: Star Stuff gives viewers an up-close look at the breathtaking creativity of artists, costume and clothing designers, milliners, and others while documentary-style vignettes provide a glimpse at the hard work behind the glamour.  Featuring KMAC Museum’s exhibitions and downtown Louisville as a backdrop, the film offers a vibrant vision of Louisville and the city’s artistic community.

“It is sheer pleasure to finally be able to release the hard work of our KMAC Couture artists to the public,” says KMAC Couture Chair Lorie Davenport. “With our reimagined runway, KMAC Couture: Star Stuff offers all the excitement and pageantry of the Met Gala without ever leaving Louisville. Although we can’t be together this year to share the experience of Couture together, we hope that this film offers a bright spot in a difficult time, reminding us all that beauty, creativity and artistry continue to flourish.”

KMAC Couture is the museum’s signature fundraiser, and offers an important platform to feature and support emerging and established artists. Proceeds from ticket sales directly support the museum’s exhibition schedule and education programming throughout the year. The live runway event was originally scheduled for April 11, 2020 and had been cancelled due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Interested viewers can visit to begin their viewing experience. At only $15 per household, the film offers an affordable opportunity to see one-of-a-kind garments created by artists from around the region and across the United States.

KMAC Museum presented the first KMAC Couture runway art show in 2012 to a sold-out crowd, and expanded the event to Main Street in 2014. The show has grown each year, adding additional seats and showcasing more artists and designs.
