The silence that lives in between the lines of a poem. The hollowness of the sound of a broken heart in the morning. The laughter of a small child cascading in the air. The slow remembrance of something long forgotten. That is the emotion that is being invoked when we look at the images created by April Martin. Finding the extraordinary in the ordinary is one of the key elements of her work and much like those before she captures the stolen moments that make us slow down and remember to see. April takes advantage of utilizing the decisive moment and tells a story in the emptiness of the ordinary.

April lives a quiet life in the country where she dreams of the fantastical and creates the impossible. An introvert at heart she prefers the peace and quiet of country living. Residing on the outskirts of Louisville for nearly 15 years with her two teenage sons and three energetic dachshunds. As well as a love for photography April is a mixed media artist and educator in and around the surrounding areas in Louisville, Kentucky. She enjoys creating a safe space for others to express their creativity and learn to quiet their minds through art and self awareness. April Martin is an alumnus of The Academy of Art University of San Francisco.
