Tim Faulkner Gallery presents a painting and photo exhibition of work by artist Shawn Marshall and Emmy Award winning filmmaker Michael Fitzer.

The 3-day exhibition and fundraiser will support a new film to raise child abuse awareness. The show opens Friday, November 8th from 6-9pm, and closes Sunday, November 10th.

The facts are astonishing… In America, more than three million cases of child abuse are reported each year.* That’s enough children to fill 56 college football stadiums!

Closer to home, a recent study showed that Kentucky tied Indiana for the highest child abuse rates in the country with 22 victims out of 1000 children. That is more than double the national average of 9 victims out of 1000. Funds raised from this duo-exhibit will go toward development of an award-winning screenplay into a feature film about one Kentucky family’s struggle with child abuse.

About the Project:
In 2012, Emmy Award winning filmmaker Michael Fitzer (Pleased to Meet Me & Under the Eiffel Tower) produced a short documentary about the effects of child abuse on one Kentucky family and the selfless decision they made which helped save another’s life. Seven years later, Fitzer is working to turn the screenplay adaptation of that story into a feature film, which he hopes will help shift the paradigm on how child abuse is handled in our country. Co-written by Fitzer, “Still Perfect,” the screenplay adaption of the story he originally covered in the documentary, has already won several awards for screenwriting including recognition from the Cannes Screenplay Contest and the American Movie Awards.
